Disney Junior Live On Tour Review!

Aside from trips to see family and going to Disneyland, we don’t really go anywhere. The kids took the opportunity to remind me of that when someone asked them where we went this summer. My 7 year old’s answer was “we stayed at home. We didn’t even go to the water park.” Yep. This summer was not my finest “mom” moment, as I obviously bored my poor children to death. So, when I was given the opportunity to take my family to see the Disney Junior Live On Tour: Pirate and Princess Adventure¬†in a city nearby, I jumped at the chance! However, I really had no clue what to expect! I know that my kids love Disney everything (wonder where they get that from) but I wasn’t sure if all of them (ages 7, 4 and 1) would be interested, or if my one year old would even last the whole show without throwing a loud fit.

Well, first thing is first…the merchandise! There were lots of fun things available for purchase, mostly themed with the show’s main characters: Mickey, Jake and the Never Land Pirates, and Sofia the First. Being that it is dark in the show, there are lots of light up toys for sale! There were also fun banners to wave, swords, necklaces, shirts and plushes.

And then of course, there are some of your classic snacks that you find at things like the circus or Disney on Ice shows! You really can’t go to something like this and not splurge on at least one yummy treat….no matter how hard you try! Yummy lemonade, cotton candy, popcorn and snow cones…who can resist? (Not me!) And they were all in themed cups or buckets, which make great souvenirs to take home and reuse. Just beware of those tiny people you have likely gone to this show for. I would recommend not buying anything until the intermission unless you’d like to make two separate runs to the concessions stands! We bought snow cones and popcorn before the show even started. Needless to say that we spent about an hour and a half listening to “can I please have a….,” “but I’m so thirsty…,” “can I just have one more….,” “PLEASE!!!”

Now for the show. I already explained what the show was about in a previous post, but I still wasn’t really clear on what I was about to see. The best way I can describe it is a like an amazingly fun Disney musical adventure that you would see at the theme parks. It wasn’t just a live version of the TV shows like I expected. It really was a fun stage show! And the great thing is that all of the seats were great. I was worried that we wouldn’t be able to see well from where we were sitting, but that wasn’t an issue at all.

As far as being concerned about the show entertaining my kids…I was worried over nothing. Each of the kids couldn’t stop watching and were glued to the show. And the one year old that I thought would lose her marbles before the end of the show….she had the best time out of everyone! She was dancing all over the place to all the fun music, and screaming and pointing like a true Disney fan every time that Mickey and Minnie came out! “Mow!” That is her word for “mouse.” It was an incredible experience for the whole family (I even saw my husband crack a few smiles) and I wouldn’t trade for the world. I hope that you all take the opportunity to go see this show when it comes around to you. It is a fun show and it will give you some of that fun family time that all parents hope to have more of.

I was given tickets to go see this show in exchange for my blog post. However all the thoughts and opinions in this post are my own.
