Disney’s “Planes” Movie Review

Today, I get to introduce you to a great friend and new writer for the blog, Jamie! She was lucky enough to attend a screening of Disney’s Planes and can’t wait to tell you all about it!

Disney's Planes

Hi everyone! I’m Jamie, a friend of Michaelyn’s and a fellow lover of all things Disney! Growing up as a huge fan of not only Disney movies but of Disney parks as well, I have of course instilled that Disney love in my now eight year old son, Gavin. Needless to say that when we were given an opportunity to see a special screening of the new movie, Planes, I was thrilled to go check it out! Also, since the screening was at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, the Disney fan in me had no choice to go!

We saw the movie in 3D, which I definitely think is the best way to see this movie, with all the flight-sequences, it’s action-packed. The main character is named Dusty, he is a crop duster with dreams of being a high-flying air racer and competing in a race around the world. The problems with this are not only that he is a crop duster plane, and not exactly built for speed, but he’s also afraid of heights! With the help of Skipper Riley, a seasoned naval aviator, he’s able to qualify for the race and becomes a plane the other competitors have to learn to take seriously. Dusty is pushed to his limits, but he captures the hearts of his fans around the world who root him on as the ultimate underdog in the race.

There were a lot of humorous parts to the movie. The music in the soundtrack was also great, and had a very rock and roll vibe to it. One of my favorite parts about Disney films is that they are obviously geared toward a younger audience, but they are still entertaining for adults. The movie reminded me of one of my and Gavin’s favorites, Disney’s Cars. The animation, the story line, and the fact that it takes place in “the world of Cars,” showed their similarities. That being said, I feel like this familiarity is something that both kids and adults will enjoy. You’ll just have to see it for yourselves!
Planes is now out in theaters!
Jamie is a 29 year old single mom from Orange County who is a full time student & full time Disney lover.
